Big Projects Coming Due

This week has been good, albeit very busy. I have been working on two specific projects for a little over a year now and they are both coming to a close. One will be complete by Wed. of next week. When I say complete I, of course, mean that everything will be in place and we will go live. However, I do know that there will be glitches and the first couple of weeks will be tough. The other project will be coming to a close sometime in the end of January. This is not so much of a project but a preparation, if you will. An IT audit is nothing to simply let fly by, especially if you are trying for the coveted "1" which is the best score you can receive.

If I actually have any reader's(which I doubt by the lack of comments) my apologies for the delay and than coming back with such a short post. I am hoping as I finish my own personal website/blog that I will be able to get into a routine of one large post per week, and having a discussion continue through each week.

Future Plans/Topics:

  1. FTP/ Basic FTP Syntax, Using FTP and batch files together.
  2. Beginner's HTML - Working towards the web.
  3. Beginner's Java - A bit of source code and planning a project

I would love to build a community of friends and family that work together helping each other learn about technology and grow in a technological environment.

My New Project

Where I work we are currently rebuilding our website. I am the one doing this and I have decided that it is as much an at home project as an at work project simply because it is going to be a great learning experience. I have very little personal experience with html so I am taking this as an opportunity to learn something new.

While we were deciding what all we wanted to include on our redone website I decided that I would also add a touch more to my project.

  1. Rebuild the pre-made flash header.
  2. Add a page that will allow customer's and employees to interact. (Something like a digg style news page relating to corporate news.)
  3. Use structure and style to create a better website for the institution as a whole. (The current one doesn't look the best and isn't the most efficiently organized.
  4. Include Financial Calculators Created using Java. (I am a beginner at Java but picking it up relatively quick. Including:
    • Savings Calculator
    • Loan Calculator(Also this should be able to make an amortization schedule)
    • Lease Calculator
    • Mortgage Calculator
    • College Savings Calculator
    • IRA/CD Calculator
    • Money Market Account Calculator
5. I have many more goals for this website, but I think for starting out this is definitely enough to begin with. I appreciate any comments or tips that anyone would like to leave.

Testing My New Blog

This is simply a test. I am seeing how all of this works. I don't expect any views, yet.
